G'day all Apologies for reporting the demise of the King Penguin yesterday. One should always check one's sources. We haven't been told what the bird was suffering from (and now apparently recovering from) but it's probably safe to assume that it was dehydrated to some extent. If it was moulting on Maquarie or Heard Island it would have had access to fresh water. On the Port MacDonnell beach it would have been substantially warmer than the subantarctic islands and there was no fresh water. Should supplying water be considered next time this happens?
