Hi gang,
Just in need of some quick advice on where to take a group of Year 9
students birdwatching !! I can hear you groaning now !!!!!!!
In all seriousness, Wesley College's Clunes residential campus operates
a number of science course options, the newest of which is entitled, "To
Be a Bird". The central concept of the course is as follows, and I
quote :
" 'To be a bird' is focused on science,
art, and creative writing skills as well as self reflection of
students
own mannerisms, characteristics and habits which can be mirrored in
something as familiar as birds. By way of introducing the course, I
would like to take a small group of students to an area that is teeming
with a wide variety of birdlife"
I think it sounds like a fantastic way to get kids into birding and I
have been invited to attend a morning birding session to assist.
What do we think ?? Is Clunes State Forest going to offer enough or
do we need to go farther afield. The College does have 22-seater buses
for transport, so anywhere within an hour's drive, Ballarat ?? ... ???
Your thoughts toward this unique opportunity for students would be most
appreciated.
Regards,
Paul
