I am certain Alan will have a better idea of the eastern limit of Mallee
Ringnecks (I know they are at Charcoal Tank near West Wyalong and I have a
suspicion they are also just to the west of Parkes) so the ones at Bouddi
will be escapees. I have seen Mallee Ringnecks on Wooloware Golf Course and
one on a powerline about 50 metres from my house in Como (both southern
Sydney).
Cheers,
Peter

Subject: [BIRDING-AUS] Mallee Ringneck in Central Coast NSW
Date: Wed, 18 Feb 2004 21:37:12 +1100
Last weekend, 15 Feb, I saw a Mallee Ringneck feeding on seed pods in an
open garden on the edge of Bouddi NP at Macmasters Beach NSW. It was
feeding with three Eastern Rosellas and hung around with them for at least
an hour or so. This area of Bouddi NP is Banksia Heath/Eucalypt forest.
Would this be an escapee or are there any records of Mallee Ringnecks in
coastal NSW?
