Hi All.

Just read Richard Baxter's post re. BBSP and LT Stint at Ash Is, 28/12. I was there this afternoon, 29/12, but the water was very high and I didn't notice either bird. I did see Sharp-tailed SP and RN Stint but wasn't really searching hard. I was more interested in seeing if any Yellow Wagtails were about.

However, I then stopped to look at the waders at Stockton below the bridge. In amongst the usual suspects were at least 2 Broad-billed Sandpipers with, I think, one other. They were in the inside area with all the avocets. It's pleasing to also see lots of Curlew SP and Sharp-tailed SPs there as well.

I watched them for a few minutes before the waders flew to the river side to feed. These were my first BBSPs; it's rare to get a tick so close to home nowadays.

Now Alan Morris has seen a SIPO at The Entrance, I guess I'll have to check that out tomorrow morning.

Regards,
