Hi all
Visited Metroplex swamp area in Murarrie, Brisbane Southeast, yesterday
(Tuesday 22.12.03) before it became too hot.
Nothing of huge note, but thought some may be interested in the presence
of 8 Red-rumped Parrots. They were not at the swamp itself, but follow
the bike track to the river, turn right towards the Toll bridge and just
before you reach the 'shadow' of the bridge they were feeding on grass
seeds on the side of the path. I didn't see them on the ground, they flew
into the first of the large trees on the RHS and were easily viewed among
the branches. A more cautious approach may result in views of these very
cute parrots feeding on the ground!
I flushed 2 Latham's Snipe from the 'upper' pond too, again not at all
unusual - just the first ones I've seen there for a while. Otherwise hot
and smelly!
