Have any birders ever seen kookaburras feeding at night time?   Last night whilst driving to a local beach I saw what I thought was a frogmouth fly down in front of the car; I slammed on the brakes, just missing the bird and to my surprise it was a kookaburra catching a moth inf ront of my car light.  It ate the moth before flying off.        Today again at the same location I saw a kookaburra (probably the same bird) sitting on the electric light post; he should have been sleeping!         I wonder if there is a shortage of reptiles so the kooka was seeking moths.
