Hi Birders,
Michael White's note about the nesting Peregrines at Wondabyne was of interest to those of us living on the Central Coast because I have not received reports of Peregrine's nesting there although there are some other known nesting sites near by. What Michael did not tell us though was how difficult it can be to get to Wondabyne! Wondabyne has no veichle access, it is a tiny railway station on the main northern line between Hawkesbury River and Woy Woy and is located at the northern end of Mullet Creek inlet. Not all trains stop at the 25m in length railway station, you have to notify the guard in advance that you want to get out and only one carraige of the train can fit at the platform. There are 4 houses in walking distance of the station, the rest are reached by boat from the station. You can walk in to Wondabyne by accessing a Track off the Great North Walk. It is a good place for seeing Striated Herons, Whistling Kites, White-breasted Sea-eagles, Rock Warblers and not much else.
