Hi Netters,

Joined a Birds Tasmania outing to Winterbrook Falls Track near Leven Canyon about 50km south/west of Devonport. There was some mist around the hills along the way with Tassie Native Hens, Brown Falcon, Gold Finches and Green Finches alongside the road.

After driving along approx 7km of dirt road, 12 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos greeted me in the car park with their loud calls. Paul Hydes lead the group along the track through magnificent rain forest with lichens, mosses, orchids, fungi, huge Hoop Pine and Sassafras. On the forest floor the old fallen trees were ripped apart by the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos for the grubs. The return trip took five hours with many stops to check out the forest.

Birds recorded:- Brown Thornbill, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Green Rosella, Crescent H/E, Strong-billed H/E, Bassian Thrush, Olive Whistler, Black Currawong, Kookaburra, Tassie Scrubwren, Forest Raven and Pink Robin.

All the Best
