Hi All, I went up to Goschen last weekend (who isn't?) to see the Black Honeyeaters. There was still plenty around, along with budgies, cockatiels, crimson chats and whitebrowed and masked woodswallows. A friend asked an interesting question: "Its funny how both Pied and Black Honeyeaters are common to arid areas, when both birds plumage is prodominantly black and would attract the heat." Can anyone elaborate on the reason why a bird would evolve with black plumage in arid areas? Is the Black and Pied Honeyeaters migration patterns influenced by the heat? Cheers, Peter |
