Hello all,
Whilst driving down to Lorne, south west vic last Friday had an unexpected
sighting of a Rufous Bristlebird appearing where else but in the middle of
the highway. The particular stretch of road was about halfway between
Aireys inlet and Lorne, so it wasnt in the National Park which I was
surprised at, however the dense coastal scrub on either side of the road
looked like very suitable habitat.
This was my first sighting of any Bristlebirds and was a terrific surprise.
It was quite a bit larger than I expected....Eastern Whipbird size, and
unmistakable. Beautiful area along that coastline, hopefully it can remain
that way.
cheers,
-Daniel-
