Hi there birders,

Received the new atlas in the post today.

Can't believe that I might be the first to comment on it!!!!!

First impressions:

A very impressive publication
Very well bound
Beautiful cover design.
Very clearly laid out, easy to use, easy to find things.

One negative:
The illustrations leave something to be desired - OK it's not meant to be an
identification guide but at least some artists could have made more effort
than what appears to be a five minute sketch - yes, they probably slaved
over them for days but some look decidedly amateurish.

The Diamond Firetail illustration looks like it could have been traced from
a book by one of my Year 3 students. Harsh words, but really, some of my
students may have done better.

Overall, though, 9.5/10 for a much awaited publication.

Happy browsing,

Trevor Hampel
