For the information of the list I have a more recent reference than that
referred to by Peter Menkhorst in his last email on this subject.

The following book, produced by the Friends of Werribee Gorge & Long Forest
Mallee Inc. has a page talking about survival of Long Forest flora and
fauna. Archibald Campbell's 1900 statement about the loss of Malleefowl
gets a mention and the probable date the species vanished from this area
(1887).

The book is produced by the Friends group with Parks Victoria and details
are as follows:

Friends of Werribee Gorge & Long Forest Mallee Inc. (2002) Long Forest:
Mallee at the back door. (Published by the Friends). Buscombe Vicprint
Mountv Waverley. ISBN 0-95811200-0-5 (Malleefowl mentioned on page 15).
