What has this got to do with birds?

And also I'm not sure what your source is, other than unnamed and emotional "opponents" of 1080, but I have no recollection of 29 dogs dying, or there would indeed have been an uproar. And if 90% of the deer popn, which are significant pests, were to die in central Otago, then that's a truly wonderful result!

1080 has very minor environmental risks, though there are some, such as potential bycatch. But until such time as we develop some other more effective way of dealing with NZ's horrendous pest problems it is our absolute best line of defence. The alternative - collapsed forest ecosystems, and total decimation of our beleaguered bird populations.

But let's stick to them rather than using this list for mischievous and ill-informed stirring the proverbial.
