In my garden I use pieces of wire about 8 inches long, with a hook bent on
the upper end, to peg the poly pipe of my watering system to the ground.
Today, examining a fallen Magpie nest, I discovered that the nest builder
had pulled up eleven of my pegs, and carefully inserted them into the nest
to pin the whole thing together, which I thought was pretty neat. There were
also sundry garden ties, odd pieces of fine wire, and a discarded zip tie
woven into the structure. Duncan Fraser.
