I just received a notice of a FREE one-day conference "BIODIVERSITY IN THE
BASIN" on Thursday 13 November 2003 at the Albury-Wodonga Campus, Charles
Sturt University, with some interesting bird-related sessions:
Dr David Roshier - Waterfowl movements in natural and agricultural
landscapes
Dr Iain Taylor - Waterbird ecology and wetland conservation
Matt Herring - Conservation of brolgas and wetland habitats in Southern NSW
and Northern Vic
Natasha Schedvin - Life on the edge - habitat requirements of barking owls
in NE Victoria
Alex Drew - Importance of travelling stock reserves for woodland birds
The conference "highlights the applied research on biodiversity conservation
being conducted in the Murray-Darling Basin, by the Johnstone Centre for
Research in Natural Resources and Society at Charles Sturt University".
The conference web site is http://www.csu.edu.au/research/jcentre.
Cheers,
Lorraine Cairnes
