In 1994 flocks of Turks formed at a number of locations within the valley at plentiful food sources - in several cases where stock was being hand fed.  At these latter locations it is possible they were feeding on the seed contained within lucerne hay.

I've also seen them forming sizeable flocks at sites with seeding weeds after the breeding season, these flocks containing many young birds.

The reason people are recording more Turquoise Parrots, and Plum-headed Finches, in the valley at the moment is not that there are more birds around but that they are being forced into more accessible areas due to the drought and a lack of seeding plants in their usual haunts.
