Well it has been some time since anything new appeared at Ruffey Lake (Doncaster, Vic) but I had the good fortune to be there over the last weekend to see a single male Australian Shoveler. It was there on Saturday, in fading light, but alas not there on Sunday. Along with the return of Clamorous Reed Warblers and a number of sightings of Little Grassbirds, in different areas of reeds around the lake, a single Great Cormorant there on Saturday and the continued presence of Gang Gang atoos, the lake still manages to attract some good birds.
A total of 37 species for the 2 afternoons.
I'm still waiting for the odd cuckoo to appear. Fan-tails are nearby but not just here.
