Birding Ausers
While in Melbourne for a few weeks in July I recorded daily the trees
that Tawny Frogmouths were roosting in. They often moved trees between
days but always used native trees. Introduced trees were right next to
the natives but they were never used.
So I have a question. Has anyone recorded Tawny Frogmouths roosting in
introduced trees?
Here in PNG I am also recording the roost sites of Papuan Frogmouths -
so far they have only used introduced trees - never the natives. So I
might also ask has anyone recorded Papuan Frogmouths roosting in native
tree species. I doubt that the birds have a selection criteria for
native/non-native per se, but your answers might help me in my quest to
determine what drives this behaviour.
