Did You know that the Yellow Billed Kite, migrant to  Southern Africa is a subspecies of our Black Kite?

"Our" Black Kite occurs over most of the Old World, from Vladivostock to Melbourne, Paris and Cape Town!!  A very successful and widespread beast; but it probably isn't "ours", as the Milvus kites probably evolved somewhere in Eurasia or Africa (someone else will know the answer to that one .....).  Most of the songbirds are "ours" - but we have to acknowledge a few other centres of evolution for the rest  :-)
