Great to hear that the Swift Parrots in Melbourne are being picked up even though they were being very quiet - for some unknown reason the birds seem to be particularly quiet this year and therefore patience is definitely a virtue. Swift parrots have also been recorded in western Sydney again, 4-5 swift parrots were heard and seen in some remnant vegetation at Rouse Hill on Windsor Rd not too far from Commercial Rd and the Mean Fiddler Irish Pub carpark last friday. There apparently is also some new road development going on in the vicinity of where the birds were located. I would be keen to hear of any more sightings in the vicinity and any information about what the birds are feeding on and roosting in. cheers Deb Debbie Saunders Swift Parrot Recovery Officer National Swift Parrot Recovery Team PO Box 2115 Queanbeyan NSW 2620 Ph: (02) 6298 9733 Freecall: 1800 66 57 66 Fax: (02) 6299 4281 email: Please note: The views expressed in this email may be those of the author and/or the Swift Parrot Recovery Team, and therefore are not necessarily views of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
