Dear Birding-Aus subscribers I have just come in from looking for Spotted Whistling Ducks at our sewage ponds but there weren't any to be seen. I decided to check the middle of our three lakes as I have seen them there (only three times in six years) before. Amongst the Wandering Whistling Duck, Pacific Black Duck, White-headed Shelduck, and Grey Teal were 58 Spotted Whistling Duck. This is the most I have recorded on campus - so it looks as though they have had a good breeding season. Isn't it great to have something to be happy about.
