Hi All,

I was supposed to be in South-Eastern Arizona, in plus 40 oC, chasing the elusive Mexican migrants, such as Lucifer, White-eared & Starthroat Hummingbirds, Rose-throated Becard, Buff-collared Nightjar, etc. Unfortunately my trip was cancelled and I had to console myself with a walk around Shepherds Bush, which considering the weather this morning (somewhere between 5 and 10 oC and alternating rain/sun/rain) had some interesting birds.

Birds of interest included a pair of Tawny Frogmouths, a Brown Goshawk, some Cattle Egrets flying over, a Spotted Pardalote building a nest, several Golden Whistlers and quite a few Red-rumped Parrots. Other birds seen included Australian Wood Duck, Straw-necked Ibis, Spotted Turtle-Dove, Common Bronzewing,
Galah, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Rainbow Lorikeet, Laughing Kookaburra, Superb Fairy-wren, White-browed Scrubwren, Brown Thornbill, Bell Miner, Noisy Miner, Red Wattlebird, Brush Wattlebird, Eastern Yellow Robin, Grey Shrike-thrush, Eastern Spinebill, Willie Wagtail, Grey Fantail, Little Raven, Australian Magpie, Magpie-lark, Common Blackbird, Common Starling, Common Myna, Welcome Swallow and Red-browed Finch.

Not bad for a patch of bush in our back-yard.

Regards

Bruce
