Here in Mt Eliza we have blackbirds nesting in the garden but they don't seem to be very territorial and we can see 2 black males together in the garden during the nesting season which is all sprong and summer. I haven't noticed much song from them. When I lived in Hawthorn, near the Yarra river, there was an English Song Thrush which would sing gloriously outside my window every evening. He had a number of other bird calls in his repertoire. He did a good White-plumed Honeyeater, and a good Red-rumped parrot both of which are reasonably common along the river. He also did an excellent Black-chinned Honeyeater so I presumed he must have gone to Western Victoria for a holiday sometime.
