I didn't pick up this thread until Mick Todd's post, so don't know if it's
already been diverted into a "favourite songster" thread. But since
Michael's gone for the Heathwren, I will add that I do have a genuine
favourite. It is the sound of the Scarlet Honeyeater - that beautiful,
silvery, descending tinkle that delights me every Brisbane winter when they
move into the suburbs. Except I haven't seen any so far this winter. I hope
others are seeing/hearing them again.
The Lyrebird's song is the most dazzling, but it doesn't provoke quite the
same response in me that the Scarlet HE does.
