Following my little report on our trip to the Macquarie Marshes, would anyone on the list have comment on an odd Fairy-wren we encountered there? This bird was in the Phragmites at the Monkeygar Creek crossing. The head-markings and coloration there where those of a typical male Superb, but the entire wings, including all of the primaries were jet-black, as black as the nape of its neck. Very good views were had. This could hardly be a moult-stage (?) Was it just an aberration? John Clifton-Everest -- Associate Professor John M.
