thought it might interest list members in the Sydney region, given the
relevance to birds. I've been to previous seminars by the Aust Plants
Society, Blue Mountains Group and they have always been very interesting
and informative.

The Birds and the Bees ... The Wind in the Trees
A Seminar arranged by the Blue Mountains Group, Australian Plants Society.
on Sunday 3 August 2003, 9.30 am to 4pm
Blaxland Neighbourhood Centre, Hope Street Blaxland.
The program will discuss Pollination in native plants - its importance in
plant ecology, conservation and regeneration.
Presentations will include the significance of birds and other fauna,
insects, the effects of wind and water, and other factors affecting plant
continuity. Feature speakers include Prof Rob Whelan, pollination
ecologist and Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Wollongong, and
Colin Bower, whose special interest is orchid pollination.
The emphasis will be on the sharing of the enthusiasms of experts.

Admission $15, lunch, teas and printed matter included.
The Centre is off the Highway behind shopping centre - easy walk from
Blaxland Station. If driving, turn at the lights at McDonalds. Parking
available.
