I am on Norfolk Island and have been watching some birds very similar to Whimbrels on the reef in Slaughter Bay. I only have a Simpson & Day with me(which does not include Bristle-thighed Curlews in the text)  Can anyone tell me how to distinguish a Whimbrel from a Bristle-thighed Curlew?
