Tony I had asked this question of an acquaintance at the Australian National Placenames Survey (based at Macquarie University, and the aim of which is to record all known Australian names, documenting their origin, meaning, history, cultural significance, map reference and location) and unfortunately their name database is not yet up and running. There was no reference to 'Borrie' in any of the reference books close to hand. As far as I know, the term 'borrie' is another name for the spice commonly called tumeric. Or perhaps you are referring the the Macquarie Dictionary definition of the slang term?
