On Sunday evening (8:15 - 9:00pm) I watched a Barking Owl hunting flying insects, I presume, from the cross on top of St Joseph's Church on Ross River Road, Townsville. It repeatedly sallied forth, Bee-eater style, after its prey, each time returning to the cross. I'd heard a Barking Owl at the same place earlier in the week, so maybe it's a favourite spot. There is a street light below the steeple which might help it see whatever it was chasing. Cheers, Ian **************************************************** Ian Montgomery Townsville North Queensland Australia My bird photos: <http://www.birdway.com.au> **************************************************** |
