Birdline Victoria Update No. 117
For the week ending: 11 May 2003

The Oriental Pratincoles have moved.  They were seen on Friday (9/05/03, thanks Deb Coulbourne) at the Paradise Road, ponds east of the dead tree. They were hawking for insects over the road and the northern part of Lake Borrie.  They rested in the grass with the cattle, north east of the eastern Paradise Road pond. Thanks to Bill Ramsey for this latest information.  The Northern Shoveler, however, was seen by those birders in the ponds immediately to the right of the Pratincole location and there have been the odd sighting of early Orange-bellied Parrots and a pair of Black Falcons in the area.
