Thought I would post some interesting recent sightings for one of
Melbourne's oldest suburbs.
I live in Richmond, about 5km from the city centre. During a sunny
Saturday (3 May) my wife picked up a group of rather noisy ravens flying
overhead. They were at some height and harassing a pale raptor. On closer
inspection with the bins it turned out to be a Little Eagle (pale form).
Our first record of the species in this locality.
Late yesterday (4 May) while walking up to Church St., the Indian Mynahs
gave their 'raptor alarm call' and just above house height a Little Falcon
alighted on a television aerial in front of me. Its rufous chest almost
glowing in the late afternoon sunshine.
Nice to have some special birding treats in an inner city suburb.
