And don't forget, Russell: the second field guide because the notes/illustrations vary between the two, (and HANZAB?), the notebook PC and software to maintain the lists, the satellite, or at least CDMA, mobile phone to connect to Birding-Aus while "on expedition", the mapping software on the PC to locate those remote spots, the emergency beacon to call for help when you get lost anyway, the camping gear/campervan/camper trailer for the expeditions, pelagic trip costs (including sea sickness protection), the website to publish all those great digital photos, and finally, the subscription to (and donations to fundraisers) Birds Australia and BOCA. And you also need the 4WD anyway. Just take out a bigger mortgage and spend ALL of the kids inheritance!! Bob (poverty stricken) Cook |
