The Pratincoles were in their usual spot (see several earlier messages) late yesterday afternoon (Sun 27 April) at Austin Rd, Western Treatment Plant. They were even less inclinced to move than on Saturday, and we saw little preening or anything else - except for two stunning birds! Didn't locate the Northern Shoveler - it certainly wasn't on the southern side or middle of the large northern lagoon. By the way, is it a male that's been seen? Other ducks present: Pacific Black Duck Chestnut & Grey Teal Blue-billed Duck Pink-eared Duck Freckled Duck Aust Shoveler Hardhead Also near the pratincoles, as on Saturday, several Black-winged stilts, one with an orange leg-flag.
