I have just got home from werribee. I did not even look for the Shoveler but did see the Oriental pratincoles - very beautiful and cooperative, we saw them as soon as we got over the gate on the shore of the pond on the left. They moved about a bit but did not go away while 3 of us had good telescope looks.

Also very enjoyable were wonderful Whitewinged Black Terns in breeding plumage, flying over Lake Borrie.

Does anyone have any more info on the pratincoles? This is a pretty decent bird for these parts (and a tick for me!). I might try to get there this afternoon on the way back from Melbourne. Anyone else planning a visit around 4pm - or with more info - might be kind enough to give me a call on 0419 395100.
