Dear Martin,
What would be the chances of a one year cessation to the Flame Robin banding activities whilst the numbers recover after thee worst drought and bush fires know to white man? or are we going to run with the very lightweight debate and argument only a few are killed? before knowing how many of the few are left?

The Victorian Ornithological Research Group (VORG) has a number of on-going surveys, one of which is banding of Flame Robins to determine their movements throughout Victoria. The web site mentions the following: 'The banding of Flame Robins takes place in Cobram, on the Murray River, once a year. Members of VORG and other interested parties camp in a State Forest over the Queens Birthday weekend in June. During this time mist nets are set up every evening in the nearby orchards where the robins are known to roost at night. Some trapping, using spring traps, is also carried out in the Forest during the day. This project has been running for a number of years.
