Reminds me of stopping in one of the NPs between Townsville and Ayr (can't
remember which one) in 1993 and unloading the car to get at the spare tyre
as I had a flat. My wife, came to watch as an interested spectator - with
no guard, by the time I'd changed the tyre, the turkeys (or wafer bottoms as
we called them) had been into the food box and had a whole 1kg fruit cake!
Still, at least they don't come swooping down to take the food off your
plate a la Kookaburra/sausage theft - that would be quite alarming!

I remember up in Kakadu sitting at a table next to this guy about
to eat his piece of bread and a Black Kite landed on the table. With
feathers going everywhere it snatched the bread from him and flew
off. I have also seen Emus nick Mars bars from luggage at Mambray Creek
in SA.
Cheers,
Peter.
