Was in the state forest outside Wallarawang today (near Lithgow)and spotted a pair of White bellied sea eagles swooping on and trying to see off a pair of Australian Ravens, This was over a section of the Cox's river upstream of Lake Lyall. The eagles were calling vigorously while chasing off the Ravens. This was observed through binoculars from quite a distance and the eagles were well upstream of Lake Lyall, where, from the landscape, you wouldn't expect to see this species. Normally I'd expect to see Ravens chasing the eagles as I've observed many a time. I'd suspect the eagles were breeding. regards, Chris Ross Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
