There are two clearings near the car park and toilets at Wattamolla in the Royal National Park, just south of Sydney. The grasses are seeding and Steve Anyon-Smith and I along with two visitors from the USA saw up to eight Beautiful Firetails with several Red-browed Firetails. Also a covey of about 16 Brown Quail were out in the open feeding on the seeds. Three Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos put on a good flight show for our American visitors as well. Steve thought the grass seeds would improve in the next fortnight. I was able to get quite close with a camera so there may be an opportunity for other photographers. In the Wattle Forest were four Crested Shrike Tits feeding very low down in the rainforest.
