Hi,
Just thought you'd like to know that on the 23rd
March, I saw 3 Swift Parrots in bush near the Southern
end of the Paddy's Ranges Park (approx 10 km south of
Maryborough, Vic).
Lots of Grey Box trees are currently in flower, as is
the Mistletoe on them. Both Eucalyptus Tricarpa and
Leucoxylon trees seem to have buds - showing some
promise for the Winter months as well.
Lots of the usual local honeyeaters are still absent -
we always see Yellow-tufted and Black-chinned
Honeyeaters, but Red Wattlebird and Brown-headed
Honeyeaters have just returned, having disappeared
when the trees weren't flowering.
It is still immensely dry in the area, however in
spite of that we recorded 29 species including
Mistletoebird, Peaceful Dove, White-browed Babbler,
Australian Owlet-nightjar and Crested Bellbird.
