Several people have reported large numbers of Needletails in the ACT this
afternoon on cog-l.
In our suburb, Hughes, we have had the most extraordinary numbers of them I
have ever seen in the ACT. They have been present over the suburb for the
last five hours (early afternoon to evening). If they are the same birds
swirling around and around there will be about 100, if it is new waves
arriving all the time then 100s or 1000s. They are flying at extremely low
levels and to stand on the sports oval and see wave after wave of them
swoosh over at little more than head height is quite breathtaking.
