The bushfire here at Katoomba came within 500m of my house last night with a spot fire breaking out just downslope from here. This morning things seem to be a little more under control (although I'm not getting too relaxed just yet). This morning as helicopters were constantly flying over and filling up their water buckets from a pond in the gully nearby, there was a Dollarbird flying around over my street. Very unusual in the upper Blue Mountains, and whether or not its appearance is related to the fire I don't know.
