G'day Doug and All,

I have seen the same down her Doug on those warm days we sometimes get, like last Saturday, 25th Jan. we had a warmish day.

I watched for a while in the morning two magpies doing the floppy head disease trick? I'm convinced they rotate the head into those unbelievable positions to get sun onto parasite infected areas for the parasites removal? you could see the dead mites in the sunlight after they went.

Clever little fella's eh?

Oh Doug thanks for the warm weather mate, it broke records since 1939.

I had a similar experience here at Monash SA. Five Yellow-throated Miners and two Grey Butcherbirds, lying stretched out and panting for ten minutes, on a log near my front door, I saved it on video, when it "was over" I put out a thermometer it was 50C on the log in the sun. I think that it was a parasite control event, they had their feathers "fluffed" and let the sun onto their skin.
