I managed to get to Barren Grounds (near Wollongong NSW) on the weekend
to meet up with an old friend of mine (Mavis Russell) and was able to
watch the southerly change come in. We saw 50+ Fork Tailed Swifts flying
with perhaps 20 White Throated Needletails at approx. 5.00 pm on
Saturday (18/1/03). They were heading in a southerly direction, perhaps
to get to the storm front.
While there we had really close and good views of Eastern Bristlebirds
on numerous occasions. Quolls and Pottoroos were seen by others.
