in the last few days around Adelaide, SA
9th & 14th January 2003 before dusk
3 Collared Sparrowhawks (?1 pair + juv male)
where the south golf links meets the northern
on the western edge of North Adelaide
14 January 2003 0830hr
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo 2
flying from the SE corner of the city
in a northerly direction along the "green-belt"
I saw them again half an hour later as they
left the city still heading north
15th January 2003
2 male & 2 female Red-rumped Parrots
on the grassy soccer fields across the
river from the zoo
15th January 2003
Whiskered Tern - at least 7
hawking along the Torrens near the
weir a stone's throw down river from
the Festival Centre etc.
15th January 2003
Long-billed Corella at least 6
with 30 or so Little Corellas in the
horse-paddock on the eastern edge
of North Adelaide
I'm sure none of these are of startling
importance but I haven't seen the terns,
Black-Cockys, Long-billed Corellas
in Adelaide city before. (I've been
here nearly 2 years).
Riding around the city and along the river
this evening I saw Rainbow & Musk Lorikeets,
Red-rumped Parrots, Galah, Sulphur-crested
Cockatoo, Little and Long-billed Corella,
Eastern Rosella (didn't see any Adelaide Rosellas)
and yesterday the Yellow-tailed Blacks.
City of churches? City of parrots...
