Just to clarify the situation and for the benefit of anyone who is planning
to visit the Blue Mountains, I have copied below the current park closure
information from the NSW NPWS website (for updates, see
http://www.npws.nsw.gov.au/news/firenews.html). The Perrys Lookdown/Grose
Valley area that Kurtis planned to visit is part of the Blue Mountains (not
Wollemi) NP.
Note that, although much of the National Park is closed, there are still
many good birding areas around the Blue Mountains which are not affected
and not in the National Park. For example, just yesterday afternoon I spent
an hour or so at Kings Tableland with some visiting UK birders during which
we saw Chestnut-rumped Heathwren, Glossy Black-Cockatoo, a flock of about
20 Gang-gangs and a Beautiful Firetail, among other things. Also, the
Capertee Valley is completely unaffected by any closures.
Kurtis, unfortunately I did not see your RFI until it was too late. Hope
you get a chance to visit the Mountains again in the future.
