BEACH STONE-CURLEW. When Bill Ramsay and other BOCA
members visited Wingan Inlet on 3 January 2003 they were told that there was a
Beach Stone-curlew present. They also saw the bird. It was still present on 10
Jan. It frequents the sand spit on the western side of the entrance,
the inlet shores and sand bars exposed at low tide. There are less
than a handful of previous records for this state.
OSPREY. While twitching the above I saw an Osprey
perched on a tree within 10 m of the Stone-curlew.
FIGBIRD. On 1 December 2002, Bob Semmens of
Mallacoota saw a female Figbird there. Next day it was joined by a male but
neither have been seen since. I know of only one previous record for this
state.
