G'day, The Laughing Gull was present on Bribie Island today, January 8, between 11.45 and 12.15 at least. It spent all of this time on the beach some 500 metres north of Scoopy's, almost halfway back towards the bridge. A good strategy for intending visitors would be to check all gulls between the bridge, Scoopy's and Buckley's Hole. Beware of mis-identifying its call. I was approached by an old fellow: "Is that a camera?" says he. "No" says I, "it's a telescope". "I've got no teeth" he announces, "and I can yodel". "It's actually a telescope" I repeat, hoping to distract him. No use. "I've got no teeth and I can yodel" he re-asserts, and proceeds to demonstrate. Ouch, no laughing matter! Cheers - Trevor.
