Got up to Lake Joondalup south today. The Plumed Whistling-Duck count this
morning was 17. There were also good numbers of Grey Teal, Aus. Shoveler, Black
Duck, Aus. Shelduck, Black Swan, and Hardhead, with a couple of Pink-eared Duck.
Other good counts were 25+ White-faced Heron, 2 Little Egret, 12 White-necked
Heron, 5 Great Egret, and 13 Glossy Ibis, a good number of Black-winged Stilt,
a small number of Banded Stilt, and a solitary Common Greenshank.
I crossed over to the northern side of the lake, around the Neil Hawkins park
area, and there were very large numbers of Coot (1000+), Grey Teal (1000+),
about 100 Pelicans, 50+ Great Egret, a large number of Black-winged Stilt and
c.800 Red-necked Avocet with a small number of Banded Stilt.
