I am curious to find out if anyone would know
whether the Ruff at Bicentennial Park is/looks very much the same bird
that has been seen at Richmond (which has been present for over a month and
still is). If anyone who saw the Ruff at Bicentennial Park could they please
give a brief description (e.g.) colour of the legs, plumage details etc.
Would much appreciate any response.
I saw the Ruff at Fernleighs Lagoon early yesterday
morning (Sunday 29th Dec). This bird was associating with a flock of Grey
Teal and waded quite well into deeper water than what most waders prefer.
It seems fond of mainly one section of the lagoon on the eastern side. The
only other migratory wader was a single Sharp-tailed Sandpiper. There were also
only 3 Plumed Whistling-ducks at this lagoon. At Bakers Lagoon, no Yellow
Wagtail but still c200 Sharp-tailed and 6 Marsh Sandpipers, a
Bar-tailed Godwit and a Black-tailed Native-hen. A Peregrine came in but not
the Black Falcon Graham Turner and others saw the previous day.
A good early 2 hours in Richmond.
