New birds at Parkes especially in my back yard is, a none occurrence, at
least for the last couple of years. On Boxing Day a Black Honeyeater spent the
day feeding on blossoming eremophila’s, the first bird I’ve actually seen feed
on them in the yard. The bird was readily approachable within a couple of feet.
Just gives you an idea how dry it is getting. That afternoon a threat of a storm produced about fifty
Fork-tailed Swifts flying south, taking any chance of rain with them.
The next day in Cobar a blossoming eucalyptus tree had a smorgasbord of honeyeaters,
White-fronted, Brown, Yellow-plumed, Spiny-cheeked, Little Friarbird, Black
Honeyeater’s.
